Last fall we shared an exclusive video performance of a Preservation Hall Jazz Band collaboration with fellow New Orleans musician Pell called “Keep Your Head Up” for our Original Tracks series. The song was originally written to soundtrack their recent documentary A Tuba to Cuba before Pell hopped on the track and was inserted into the spirited video homage to NOLA.

A lot has changed since then—and among many, many other interim events, the song has become a staple of bandleader Ben Jaffe’s rousing Instagram Live performances. And now, thanks to the band’s label Sub Pop, the track is finally streamable on all DSPs.

Additionally, last week the group launched the Legacy Emergency Relief Fund, which supports those in the collective who’ve lost work due to COVID-19. “The doors at Preservation Hall are closed for the foreseeable future and our 60-member Musical Collective is facing great uncertainty,” Jaffe shared in a press statement. “We’re focusing all of our attention towards caring for our musicians in helping them weather the crisis.”

You can donate to the cause here, and find the newly released single on DSPs here.
