New Jersey emo crew Can’t Swim are back with a new song, “Who’s Happy?,” which is, during a pandemic and the week before the election, a good question. This single follows their May release When the Dust Settles, and it’s catchier than ever. It’s sure to provoke a lot of moshing and crowdsurfing whenever that’s possible again.

“‘Who’s Happy?’ is a song I have had a demo of for a while now, but got totally reworked once in the studio,” frontman Christopher LoPorto shares. “Though drastically different sonically then our previous releases, in my opinion this song sounds the most Can’t Swim out of the five. The programming/soundscape in the verses is my favorite on the EP, I think it complements what the song is about in a way we’ve never accomplished before. Finding a balance between the somber lyrics and upbeat moody music was a challenge, but I think that contrast is what makes the song.”

The balance is there; the song can easily make you want to cry and jump around at the same time. Listen to “Who’s Happy?” below. It will appear on the band’s Someone Who Isn’t Me EP, due out December 4 via Pure Noise—pre-order it here.
