The action-packed over-the-top awesomeness of John Wicknot to mention its insane kill countwas one of 2014’s most enjoyable movie-going experiences (and a critical hit—the flick is still sitting pretty with an 83% on Rotten Tomatoes). Now, it looks like we might be witnessing the beginning of a new hero franchise.

First-time directors Chad Stahelski and David Leitsch (the latter of which was uncredited) exceeded all expectations, putting an innovative mark on the shoot-’em-up/revenge genre and making the action fun and entertaining without dumbing it down, while also reinvigorating audiences’ deepest desires for Keanu Reeves: Action Star. In an interview with Movies.com, Stahelski and Leitsch affirmed that they are in development on a sequel, but wouldn’t go so far as to confirm Keanu Reeves’s involvement or plot details quite yet. However, it seems the two (who both have significant careers as stunt actors) are pretty confident they’re going to up the ante for any potential John Wick sequel: “We have ideas for days and without blinking twice we know we can outdo the action from the original,” Stahelski said, boggling minds.

However, the next chapter for John Wick might not be the next project for the directors, who are in talks to helm the buzzy (and hilariously, absurdly-titled) upcoming Chris Pratt project Cowboy Ninja Viking.
