Though Minnesota may not exactly be the first place to come to mind when you think about hugely influential musical regions, the list of great acts that hail from the Land of 10,000 Lakes (Prince, The Replacements, Hüsker Dü, Atmosphere—hell, even Dylan was born there) is actually quite staggering.
Looking to add to that list is the newly-born group Hippo Campus, who hail from St. Paul, Minnesota, and made some waves last year following their debut Bashful Creatures EP. So much so, in fact, that the EP is now getting a proper re-release from Grand Jury in May.
To celebrate that occasion, the group has released a new music video (which premiered at both NME and The AV Club) for the track “Souls,” an infectious slice of reverbed guitars and soaring vocals accompanied in turn by sinister images of cultish stalking and Blair Witch–style voodoo.
Starting next month, the group is also hitting the road, where they’ll make a stop at our FLOODfest at SXSW in Austin. You can view the full list of dates below.
