Brainfeeder has been up to A Lot since last releasing new music from Teebs in 2014—including but not limited to unleashing soon-to-be classic records from the likes of Thundercat and Kamasi Washington, not to mention curating an ever-growing roster of up-and-coming names like Dorian Electra and Ross from Friends, expertly maintained by label founder Flying Lotus. But with the return of Mtendere Mandowa, all eyes are on the glitch-hop producer, whose new album Anicca drops October 25.
With the announcement comes a tracklist full of familiar names: Anna Wise, Sudan Archives, and MNDSGN’s Ringgo Ancheta are among the most anticipated guests, though it’s the familiar warbles of Animal Collective’s Panda Bear that grace the first single, “Studie.” The expectedly smooth production lends itself to a Noah Lennox–friendly atmosphere, his spaced-out vocals shimmering across the track’s three-and-a-half minute runtime.
