One thing about coming up among the no-worries-if-not generation is that at some point, we’re all gonna have to establish some sort of threshold for when worry should be established. New Jersey pop-punk outfit Teenage Halloween address this exact learning moment on their new single “Armageddon Now,” arriving ahead of the quartet’s sophomore album Till You Return which drops in just under a month.

“This one is about the harm some of us cause ourselves in attempts to avoid confrontation,” shares vocalist Luk Henderiks. “‘Armageddon Now’ urges the listener to find strength to speak their truth in the face of adversity. It channels the feeling that others are steamrolling your thoughts and actions and how you have to just follow your own path in the end. The only way to feel heard at times is to keep on pushing your voice, even when it’s not the loudest one in the room.” Naturally, the track’s power-pop drive is sharpened to a serrated edge as Henderiks’ belted vocals compete with powerful riffing and, ultimately, some wicked soloing.

Just as fitting is the track’s Chris Warner–directed video, which sees the band ripping through the track in the midst of an intense wrestling match before each wrestler (cumulatively billed as the “Queer Punk Outlaws”) picks up an instrument instead. Check it out below, and pre-order Till You Return before it arrives on October 20 via Don Giovanni Records here.
