Although Atlanta’s art-punk collective Warehouse fizzled out just as folks beyond their local scene and a tight blogosphere were beginning to take notice, one half of the band has recently reunited under the new moniker Zero Point Energy with their debut record set to land just ahead of the 10-year anniversary of Tesseract, Warehouse’s first album. The early singles from Tilted Planet present the duo as a softer take on post-punk than the jagged edges of Warehouse permitted, with the new album’s third single taking the form of an ambling indie-rock ballad free of jangle-pop riffs and other genre-specific flourishes—though still possessing plenty of the instrumental ebbs and flows and narrative flair.

“It's about the struggle between a higher aspirational self and the temptations of easy things,” the band’s Ben Jackson shares of “All You Want,” the track’s mostly sparse guitar-rock instrumental leaving plenty of room for the lyrics. “I think most people might assume it relates to drugs or consumption generally, and in a way it does. But more so it just refers to choosing the easy things rather than the harder and more necessary things a person should pursue. It’s about trying to break out of a normal mode of being and push into something more.”
