Thanksgiving might be on Thursday, but the Christmas spirit is already here thanks to countless Christmas ads already running, Black Friday specials starting early, and Sharon Jones. Jones and her Dap-Kings just released their new LP—the aptly titled It’s A Holiday Soul Party—and today, they unveiled the groovy video for their rendition of “White Christmas.”
Written by Irving Berlin and made famous by Bing Crosby, “White Christmas” is usually a slightly melancholic holiday song about longing and homesickness. However, Jones has no time for wallowing in this version—she kicks up the track’s tempo with a killer horn line and a ’60s-style guitar riff. ‘Tis the season to get down!
