It’s starting to feel like the time of year for jamming hypnagogic pop and shredding aquatic gnar, and Cathedral Bells have got you covered with their recent self-titled debut EP. As gauzy as it is ’gazy, Matt Messore’s dream pop project sounds like the Gulf Coast response to SoCal’s Surf Curse and their bedroom pop offshoots.

In honor of their upcoming West Coast tour, the group is sharing a lo-fi vid for the two-minute “Cemetery Surf,” which features the duo thawing out a graveyard somewhere that is decidedly not on the West Coast. It’s a trippy montage, and it suits the band perfectly.

The cemetery shots were filmed in a historic cemetery in New Jersey,” Messore clarifies, “which gave the video a spooky feel. The band footage was filmed in an abandoned gas station in DeLeon Springs, Florida. Between the creepy aesthetic of the respective locations and the dreary weather conditions, the video encapsulates a feeling of nostalgia.

Cemetery Surf EP is out now on Good Eye Records.
