For over twenty years now, Deathbomb Arc has offered us an alternative to clear-cut, radio-friendly genre denominations like rap, rock, and pop, often infusing the three into something hardly definable. In recent years they’ve even broken into the mainstream, shaping popular hip-hop into something darker, grimier, and more in-tune with our online personas with the global successes of JPEGMAFIA and clipping.
Today the label is revealing a November 9 showcase at Downtown LA’s Fat Beats Records for a handful of boundary-pushing artists who’ve been regulars on the DBA roster for years, including dungeon-synth duo Robedoor, neo-soul new-waver Ed Balloon, outsider country rockers Miguel Mendez & The Yoga Elite, and clipping. noisemaker William Hutson—as well as newly established Disney-inspired hip-hop duo Dis Fantasy, featuring Deathbomb mainstay Margot Padilla.
The event is all ages, and admittance is free. For more info, view the flyer below or visit the event page, where you can also register. The label promises an array of rare items on-hand for purchase, and that the event will begin “annoyingly on time.” More info can be found on Deathbomb’s and Fat Beats’ websites.
To get you even more riled—or perhaps in a gesture of goodwill toward those of you beyond driving distance of DTLA—Deathbomb is also announcing an early stream of Robedoor’s new LP, Negative Legacy, which is set to drop this Friday. You can stream the full album a whole two days before its street date (or, you can pre-order it here and wait a few days).
