Bad Waitress have been pretty quiet since 2018’s Party Bangers Volume: 1—but now they’re making up for lost time with a loose, noisy single called “That Sedative,” which arrives with a slew of live dates spanning New York and beyond. With more energy than anyone on a weekday could ever muster, the punk quartet let loose on an unbridled garage rock joyride in the same vein as Potty Mouth or The Coathangers.
The only thing more insane than the song itself is the video. The group enlisted Ryan Faist to direct the project in order to “capture the psychotic essence” of the track, as singer Kali-Ann Butala puts it. “‘That Sedative’ is a rock-and-roll, drug-induced maniac embodied in a song. Using a single shot in the basement of local bar Houndstooth we created a performance video that kind of looks like Beetlejuice started a band in an insane asylum.”
With no plans for a future release announced at this point, enjoy the video below (or via DSPs here), and make sure not to miss their chaotic live show if you’re gonna be at SXSW—full dates beneath the video.
