Open Mike Eagle has made a career for himself with raps about making things weird for those around him, and today he’s lending that lyrical grace for recounting awkward situations to a guest spot on producer Jacknife Lee’s forthcoming LP, The Jacknife Lee. Among an all-star guest list that includes Genesis Owusu, Earl St. Clair, Beth Ditto, Sneaks, Haviah Mighty, Petite Noir, Muthoni Drummer Queen, Bibi Bourelly, Barny Fletcher, and Aloe Blacc, Eagle’s single is a promising indication of what the revered producer’s record has in store.

“Open Mike Eagle was on my dream list of collaborators, but I didn’t think he’d do it,” Jacknife shared in a press release. “His flow is ridiculously clever and smooth. I’ve been a fan of his for ages. Once he was convinced to come to Topanga we just hung out, listened to records, and I played him the beat and he took it away. And then this happened. He makes it sound so, so easy but he’s doing some mad shit in there.”

The video sees OME stalking the Venice Beach boardwalk trying to act as normal as humanly possible while rapping to a stuffed dinosaur—as you can imagine, he doesn’t do a great job. Watch the clip below, and grab a copy of The Jacknife Lee when it hits stores May 29 via Slow Kids Records.
