Macula Dog is the kind of band you can’t really use music-journalist terms to describe, and can really only point to existing pop culture reference points to try to explain as best you can. VICE’s referring to them as a midpoint between the innovative new wave of Devo and the chaotic good of Pee-wee’s Playhouse feels apt, though it’s worth mentioning the unmistakable presence of The Residents’ sense of mystery and ambiguous horror.

Adding to this potpourri today is the influence of Harmony Korine, as the duo’s new video looks like Spring Breakers shot on a Trash Humpers budget. Soundtracking the clip is the title track from their forthcoming EP for Wharf Cat—a chopped-and-screwed ambient dream sequence that you’d probably wanna wake up from if it wasn’t so interesting.

“We went on a boat ride at night a few years ago and thought it’d be a good idea to do it again but film it this time,” the band shares of the video’s origins. “We only had about an hour and a half to shoot it because our friend that was helping us had to go to a Krayzie Bone (from Bone Thugs) concert at Respectables in downtown West Palm Beach.”

Breezy drops April 24 via Wharf Cat—you can pre-order it here.
