Temps at this past weekend’s Pasadena Daydream Festival were blazing hot—but that didn’t deter the goths, who gamely showed up in full makeup and all-black ensembles, amassing on the golf course at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, CA.

Performances included sets from Deftones, Throwing Muses, Chelsea Wolfe, Joy Formidable, Twilight Sad, and Mogwai. The Pixies went on just before the main attraction, playing all their best-loved tunes including “Where Is My Mind?”

Finally, The Cure took the stage amidst wisps of fog, playing a twenty-seven-song set that extended right until curfew. The wild-haired Robert Smith appeared to the opening notes of “Plainsong” and looked out at the fans for several minutes, seemingly marveling at the crowd who braved the desert heat for the band’s only West Coast appearance.

The Cure were recently inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, and curated the fest in partnership with Goldenvoice. Let’s hope this isn’t the last we see of them in Cali.
