Between the bonkers Burgerama lineup and King Khan & BBQ Show putting aside their differences to make a new LP, things are looking up for the garage rock scene in 2015. Right on queue, here’s another feather in your cap (pin in your denim jacket?) for you garage aficionados out there, as the guitar-and-drums duo Gal Pals have come riding into LA via Austin to premiere a cut from their upcoming debut Velvet Rut.
“Punisher” is a ragged pop tune that bounces along like a Rocket to Russia orphan picked up on the side of the road by Cherry Glazerr. Taken as a double-dose along with their first single “Ex-Marionette,” Gal Pals seemed poised to feature as two of the new fuzz doctors in the LA area for a while to come.
Velvet Rut is out February 24 via Paper Cup Music.
