Last we checked in with Chicago ensemble Hollyy they were celebrating the city’s modest beachfront vistas, putting an exclamation point on the tail end of summer with a late-September video for their track “Beach” back in 2020. Fast forward a year and a half and the group is gearing up to follow up the EP that song was attached to with the equally breezy If You’re Ever Lost, another EP which only feels tied to the winter due to its release date.
Fortunately for us, in filming their “Neighborhoods” session the band braved the barely tolerable cold (“It is 23 degrees out tonight,” the band announces at the beginning of the video) to give us a warming performance of the If You’re Ever Lost cut “Lost in Confusion.” Citing artists ranging from Sharon Jones to local heroes Wilco as inspiration, both influences come through in the Daptone-speckled Americana on display in the snowy visual.
