Snoop Dogg has acquired Death Row Records' brand, the label that launched his career. It was announced yesterday that Snoop bought the label from MNRK Music Group, which is managed by investment firm Blackstone. The deal comes ahead of Snoop Dogg's upcoming album B.O.D.R. (Bacc on Death Row), out this Friday, and his appearance at the Super Bowl with Dr. Dre, Eminem, Mary J. Blige, and Kendrick Lamar.

“I am thrilled and appreciative of the opportunity to acquire the iconic and culturally significant Death Row Records brand, which has immense untapped future value," Snoop Dogg said in a statement. "It feels good to have ownership of the label I was part of at the beginning of my career and as one of the founding members. This is an extremely meaningful moment for me. I would like to personally thank the teams at Blackstone, MNRK and especially David Kestnbaum, who worked collaboratively with me over several months to make this exciting homecoming a reality. I’m looking forward to building the next chapter of Death Row Records.”

Unfortunately, the Snoop Dogg news doesn't stop there. TMZ also reported last night that the musician is being sued for sexual assault by a woman identified as Jane Doe, who alleges Snoop forced her to perform oral sex on him on May 29, 2013. Snoop has denied the allegations.
