News flash for you, Walter Cronkite: After years of rumors and fantasies surrounding the possibility of a Zoolander sequel, the day has finally come, and the project has been officially confirmed—where else?—on the runway.
Very lucky guests at Valentino’s show during Paris Fashion Week were treated to a special appearance by Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson, who reprised their roles as Derek Zoolander and Hansel McDonald (he has a last name, everyone—look it up), in conjunction with the announcement that the movie will be released in February of next year.
With a script written by Tropic Thunder collaborator Justin Theroux, Stiller is set to get back in the director’s seat for Zoolander 2, which is said to involve a storyline based around Derek Jr. not living up to his dad’s legacy—impossible a task as that may be. Penelope Cruz has also signed on to play a role, and Will Ferrell is heavily rumored to return as Mugatu. Hopefully there’s a place for Maury Ballstein as well.
You can watch the essential video of the duo returning to the catwalk below, where it appears that Derek is still a bit unsure about his abilities as an ambi-turner.
