Screaming Trees frontman, part-time Queens of the Stone Age member, and prolific solo artist Mark Lanegan has passed away today at the age of 57. The news was announced on his official Twitter account earlier this afternoon.

"Our beloved friend Mark Lanegan passed away this morning at his home in Killarney, Ireland," the Tweet begins. "A beloved singer, songwriter, author and musician he was 57 and is survived by his wife Shelley.  No other information is available at this time. We ask Please respect the family privacy."

In addition to his work with Screaming Trees and QOTSA, Lanegan was featured on projects from The Armed, Cult of Luna, Moby, and Manic Street Preachers just in 2021 alone, in addition to releasing a full length album with Joe Cardamone as Dark Mark vs. Skeleton Joe last year.
