Kurt Cobain will always be a figure shrouded in mystery, due in part to the foggy nature of his tragic death and the unparalleled passion of his music. At Sundance this past January, an official documentary about the grunge pioneer premiered to critical acclaim, and today the first trailer has been released.
Named after one of Cobain’s mixtapes, Kurt Cobain: Montage of Heck is the first fully authorized documentary about the musician. Through illustrations, old photos, home movies, and exclusive interviews with his former bandmates and family (including Courtney Love, and Frances Bean Cobain—one of the doc’s executive producers), Montage of Heck strives to dig deep into the past and psyche of the Nirvana legend.
Beyond getting a closer look at the private life of Cobain, Montage of Heck‘s upcoming spring premiere is making Nirvana fans salivate with the intriguing news that the film will feature a twelve-minute, never-before released, acoustic Kurt Cobain track.
Kurt Cobain: Montage of Heck airs on HBO on May 4.
