Channel Tres knows how to fill a dance floor. His collaborators are as wide-ranging as his influences, working with Tinashe, Tyler, the Creator, TOKiMONSTA, Vanjess, Disclosure, Robyn, Gus Dapperton, and Terrace Martin—and that's only to name a few. He's released a few singles since his 2020 project—appropriately titled i can't go outside—but today he's returned with a whole new batch of tracks called Refresh.

The seven songs on Refresh diverge from Tres' recent output of pop-leaning sounds like "Naked," the disco-inspired collab with TOKiMONSTA. Most notably, Channel Tres' distinct voice doesn't hold major real estate on these mostly instrumental tracks. Instead, there's warped vocals and twisted samples here and there; take the moody drudge of "willow" that also features a thrilling scream. (For a split second, I thought my neighbors were having a moment.) Consistently original, the surprise release is a vibey cornucopia of sounds, further demonstrating the ways in which Tres evades tedium.
