Last week, FLOOD and Fender announced a collaborative digital concert series titled the Vote Arts and Minds Sessions with the goal of encouraging folks to sign a petition to put the Arts & Music Funding Initiative—which would lead to increased arts and music education in public schools—on California’s November 2022 ballot. So far we’ve shared sessions with artists including Claud, Ashley Mehta, and The Trims, and today’s session comes courtesy of Mike Deni’s synth-pop outfit Geographer.

Sitting in the “music nook” in his LA home, Deni explains the impact music programs had on him in his youth before launching into a performance of his Down and Out in the Garden of Earthly Delights track “Keep Running.” “I was bad at everything that made you cool, and I was good at music,” he explains. “I discovered that I had an acuity for music, and that it was really nurtured, and that became my identity all throughout high school.”

Check out the performance and sign the petition below, and keep an eye out for new sessions posted daily on FLOOD’s YouTube page.

You can help every student in every school across California gain access to arts and music education. Please sign the petition below to put the Arts & Music Funding Initiative on the November 2022 ballot.
