The last release we got from The Black Keys was last year's blues cover album Delta Kream. Today, they've returned to announce another album titled Dropout Boogie, which claims to be a return to form for Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney. With the news comes the first single "Wild Child" and a Bryan Schlam–directed video that finds the duo "reconnecting to their blue collar roots," working at a high school in order to find inspiration for the album.

Thinking back to their beginnings blasting barebones blues in their basements, Auerbach shared: “That’s always been the beauty of the thing Pat and I do. It’s instant. We’ve never really had to work at it. Whenever we’d get together, we’d just make music, you know? We didn’t know what we were going to do, but we’d just do it and it would sound cool. It’s the natural chemistry Pat and I have. Being in a band this long is a testament to that. It was a real gift that we were given. I mean, the odds of being plopped down a block-and-a-half from each other in Akron, Ohio—it just seems crazy.”

Dropout Boogie came together at Auerbach's Nashville studio Easy Eye Sound and features collaborators Billy F. Gibbons (ZZ Top), Greg Cartwright (Reigning Sound), and Angelo Petraglia (Kings of Leon). The latter two happen to be on the new single.
