After Ethel Cain released her Inbred EP last year, the songwriter went missing. (Well, in a performative sense.) Today, she's returned with news of her debut album titled Preacher's Daughter, which is scheduled for release on May 12. Cain wrote and produced the 13-track project, collaborating with select multi-instrumentalists including Matt Tomasi & Colyer. The news comes with the single "Gibson Girl" that's equal parts sexy and suspenseful.

The track melts at a burning candle's pace, dripping with lyrics of sordid luxuries—drugs, money, saucy lap dances. Cain's vocals recall pop singer BANKS, but with a more sinister tone akin to Miguel. "Black leather and dark glasses / Pouring another while I shake my ass / He’s cold-blooded so it takes more time to bleed," she sings in an entrancing drawl. It's another thrilling release from the rising artist who isn't afraid to toe the line between subversive and seductive.

Hear "Gibson Girl" below, and keep an eye on her socials for updates about her recent mysterious disappearance.
