Of all the must-see performers gigging around SXSW this year, four of them were conveniently (and not coincidentally) scheduled to perform at last night’s Saddest Factory Records Corporate Retreat. MUNA, Sloppy Jane, Charlie Hickey, and Claud—the four signees on the label run by Phoebe Bridgers, who hosted the evening along with comedian Caleb Hearon—took the stage over the course of the night, with Bridgers joining the acts for guest appearances (yes, this includes MUNA’s performance of “Silk Chiffon”).

Meanwhile, the “team building exercise” threatened in the lead up to the event wound up being much more enjoyable than the corporate-y implications that phrase may have implied. Rather than awkward icebreaker games, the showcase ended with a karaoke set which, unfortunately, only consisted of one song due to time constraints: My Chemical Romance’s “Welcome to the Black Parade,” performed by Sloppy Jane's Haley Dahl and Bridgers.

Special thanks to our sponsors Fender and Post Gender World for helping to make this such an incredible evening.
