PC Music has been incredibly influential to hyperpop—and current pop music more broadly—over the years, having gotten ahead of the futuristic take on aughts-style pop when they launched nearly a decade ago. The A. G. Cook–founded collective is preparing to release a compilation album titled PC Music, Volume 3 that features Cook, Hannah Diamond, Danny L Harle, umru & Laura Les, and more. Today, we get to hear the first track from the project, which is the single "Crush" by London-based French synth-pop and shoegaze group Planet 1999.
"Crush" is a video-game-inspired pop song that soundtracks the excited butterflies one experiences in the presence of a crush. "From the moment I laid eyes on you / You broke a silence I was rushing through," goes the opening line. The playful track features sugary synths and shifting electronic bleeps, mirroring the adrenaline rush of falling for someone.
