Joyce Manor announced their forthcoming sixth album 40 oz. to Fresno today with the single "Gotta Let It Go" and a Mason Mercer–directed video that transports us back to a 1970s house party. The album—out June 10 via Epitaph—is the result of singer/guitarist Barry Johnson's desire to keep the creative juices pumping through the pandemic. The final nine-track project came together with producer Rob Schnapf, was mixed by Tony Hoffer, and features percussion by Motion City Soundtrack's Tony Thaxton.

“This album makes me think of our early tours, drinking a 40 in the van on a night drive blasting Guided by Voices and smoking cigarettes the whole way to Fresno," Johnson said about the album. That nostalgic energy is apparent on "Gotta Let It Go." Over a fiddling guitar riff, Johnson flips through past memories. "When I was a boy I used to go / Walking after dark all on my own / Where I was headed was anyone's guess," his coarse voice shouts. Ah, to be young, reckless, and lost.
