Last August, Chromatics officially called it quits. However, that doesn't mean Adam Miller, Nat Walker, and Ruth Radelet aren't still pursuing music. The latter gave the first indication she was ready to pursue a solo career when she covered Elliott Smith's "Twilight" this past December. Today, she's released her first original track as a solo artist. It's titled "Crimes," and it was worked on with producer Filip Nikolic.

On "Crimes," Radelet asks a lot of questions. "Is it easy to start over? Is it easy to play the game? Is it easy to forget your name?" she sings during the chorus. Over a lax hip-hop beat, wavy blues guitars flitter in the background. Radelet's vocals are mercurial and slightly spooky while kaleidoscopic synths sparkle around her.

She shared a bit about the song, detailing that “‘Crimes’ is about the pursuit of success at the expense of one’s integrity, and the exploitation of others in order to get ahead. It’s about the price we pay for our choices, and whether or not it’s worth it. The question, ‘Is it easy to start over?’ can be interpreted in two ways—it’s meant to ask how it feels to continually reinvent yourself until you lose sight of who you are. It also asks how hard it would be to walk away from it all.”
