Today, horror-king-turned-devout-NBA-fan John Carpenter announced the release of the original motion picture soundtrack for the new adaptation of Stephen King's Firestarter. For the soundtrack, he was reunited with his collaborators on the Halloween reboot scores (and godson and son, respectively) Daniel Davies and Cody Carpenter. The Firestarter soundtrack will be available May 13, but in the meantime the trio shared the end title theme.

The original Firestarter film came out in 1984 and starred a young Drew Barrymore alongside David Keith. The new Keith Thomas–directed adaption, from the producers of The Invisible Man, stars Ryan Kiera Armstrong and Zac Efron. The soundtrack is available the same day as the film's release.
