Last year, Tirzah shared her gripping sophomore full-length Colourgrade, the follow-up to her breakthrough 2018 album Devotion. Today, she's returned with a new single title "Ribs," which was written with her frequent collaborators Coby Sey and Mica Levi and mixed by Kwes. “Ribs sit close to the heart," she said in regard to the song.

"Ribs" contains itself at a relaxed pace. Tirzah's vocal doodles swirl around a singular tinny note, rudimentary guitars, and sparse drums. The modest production gives space to focus on the weight of Tirzah's words. "It's true to say that you have skewed this world from view," she sings in small breaks. "You see things I can't see / You see love in between / Hold on to me," she continues in the next verse, her delivery teetering between soft singing and straightforward declarations.

Love has tilted Tirzah's worldview, and she's made a song that allows space for listeners to imagine that possibility in their own lives. "Ribs" documents the powerful realization that someone has changed one's life indefinitely, opening a door that they didn't notice before. It's everything, and she's holding onto it.
