It’s hard to believe that mxmtoon has only been putting out music for four years—maybe because those four years have felt like the shortest years of our lifetimes. As she examines in the latest single from her sophomore album rising—which arrives this Friday—there’s been a collective sense of time moving more quickly than it ever has, whether it’s due to the pandemic or our individual experiences growing up. “I feel like I blinked one afternoon and suddenly found myself fully cemented in adulthood, wildly unprepared to take on the future and desperately wishing I could go back in time,” she shared in a press statement that arrived alongside her new track “victim of nostalgia.”

While we await the IRL invention of the flux capacitor, the best we can do in terms of time travel is revisiting favorite songs from the distant and recent past. For the latest episode of FLOOD FM’s “Hacked” series, mxmtoon will be taking over the airwaves this week to do just that with hand-picked songs and recollections of her project from over the years. Airing every day this week through Friday at 10 a.m., 1 p.m., 5 p.m., and 10 p.m. PST, tune into FLOOD FM here to hear what she’s spinning.
