LA-based songwriter PJ Western is announcing his debut LP Here I Go today, which will arrive September 16 via New West. The first sample of the record comes in the form of “Blah Blah Blah,” a track that details a very specific moment most of us experienced while quarantined over the past few years. “At first, being stuck inside felt like summer camp,” Western recalls of his experience—which, in his case, ultimately led to creating an album with an esteemed team of producers and musicians. “All the time in the world to find more from life. Do you have secret talents? Nobody else is doing anything better anyhow.”
Yet when summer hit it was hard to forget the types of get-togethers that we’d missed so much, with the single’s upbeat charm mimicking the music that blasts from your friends’ speakers. “‘Blah Blah Blah’ is about the desire to be bored at a party again,” Western continues. “Not because we crave boredom, but because the privilege of being bored in an otherwise exciting setting is one we still hopefully deserve.”
Mirroring the pop-song energy of the track is a bright, neon-drenched Serena Reynolds–directed visual that sees Western all dressed up with nowhere to go. Watch it below, and pre-order the album here.
