Wunderkind producer and musician Steve Lacy dropped a new single today titled "Mercury" and announced his sophomore album, titled Gemini Rights. Lacy has yet to reveal the specific release date, but Gemini Rights is slated for this summer. Although it will be the first proper release from Lacy since his 2019 debut LP Apollo XXI, his finely crafted production can be heard most recently on Ravyn Lenae's debut album HYPNOS following the duo's collaborative Crush EP.

If there isn't already a designated anthem for the air sign, Lacy's confident and sexy track should be crowned its official soundtrack. "Mercury" combines '60s Brazilian bossa nova and '70s funk with Lacy's wistful coos and soaring falsetto. "Gemini, I'm a myth and I'm a legend," he sings stealthily on the opening line. Later, Lacy nods to his 2017 platinum-selling single "Dark Red" ("I do as I please and you see where it lead / Guess somethin’ ain’t ’bout to happen to me") with the reference to his past illustrating his artistic growth.
