After 10 years, The Mars Volta return. Guitarist-composer Omar Rodríguez-López and singer-lyricist Cedric Bixler-Zavala shared the new single "Blacklight Shine" with a short film directed by Rodríguez-López. Bixler-Zavala explained that the single's lyrics capture the sentiment of “a wave of rolling blackouts washing memories onto shore, a heartbeat that still remembers everything."

The band also announced an upcoming tour that begins on September 23 at The Factory at Deep Ellum in Dallas and ends in LA at The Palladium with special guest Teri Gender Bender. The following dates mark the first time the band has performed live since 2012.
