While the Easy Eye Sound universe is continually expanding between its label’s signees and its studio’s inhabitants, the sounds that come out of it never tend to veer too far from the unique garage- and blues-rock sounds of its founder Dan Auerbach, whose band The Black Keys rejuvenated the genres at the beginning of the millennium. For Marcus King, this may be best exemplified on the latest single from his forthcoming solo album Young Blood due out August 26. Recorded by Auerbach at Easy Eye, “Lie Lie Lie” is a passionate, riff-heavy track that fully embodies the gritty rock sounds the songwriter’s always dipped his toes in.
“‘Lie Lie Lie’ for me captures the spirit of this record,” King shares. “You can feel how natural the vibe was in the studio. This track showcases each player’s energy, it shines a light on the production and the sound of Easy Eye Sound. At the two-and-a-half-minute mark the band locks into a groove that becomes a sonic representation of why I do what I do! I live for that feeling!”
While the song gives off plenty of live-recording energy, King is also unveiling a live video performance of the track today as well—find that along with the studio version below.
