Initially scheduled for 2020, the ninth edition of Rock in Rio Lisboa kicked off in Lisbon, Portugal this past weekend with performances from UK alt-rockers Muse and indie heroes The National. With a zip line flying above the main stage crowd, The National's Matt Berninger took advantage of Muse's "ego ramp" to work the crowd. The event also marked The National's return to Lisbon, which was the site of their final show pre-pandemic, with Aaron Dessner commenting, "Glad it wasn't our last ever."
It started to pour during Muse's set, but FLOOD photographer Joshua Mellin managed to fight the elements and document the proceedings. Rock in Rio Lisboa continues June 25 and 26 with Duran Duran, Post Malone, Anitta, and more. Check out highlights from the event below.
