Back in February, husband-wife duo Haunted Summer revealed plans for a new album called Whole by sharing a cover of Daniel Johnston’s “You Put My Love Out the Door,” swapping the original’s tape-hiss instrumental with the moody atmospherics the pair have been developing over the past decade. As vocalist Bridgette Moody noted, the cover introduced the lyrical theme for the rest of the album “where you confront the ones that have hurt you, either intentionally or not. You don't necessarily need an apology or even a reply, but just speaking your own piece gives you peace.”

With that project out now through Rain Phoenix’s label LaunchLeft, Moody and John Seasons set up an ominously lit outdoor stage for a nighttime “Neighborhoods” session where they performed album cuts “The Tree” and “Camera,” with Moody on mood-setting keys and vocals and Seasons on gentle acoustic guitar. The end result is nine and a half minutes of soothing sounds that further the album’s ruminations on working through complex emotions. Check it out below.
