With the release of Blur‘s first album in nearly twelve years just over a month away, the newly reunited Britpoppers (including the lifeblood of the group, Graham Coxon) have released another single from the upcoming LP, “Lonesome Street.” This newest song comes after the original album announcement and trip to the ice cream parlor that was “Go Out,” which was subsequently followed by the far-less-sweet, semi-apocalyptic track “There Are Too Many of Us.”
Today’s release bridges the disparate tones of those first two tastes of the upcoming full-length, The Magic Whip, with some trademark Blur bounciness tempered by Damon Albarn’s bleak observations about modern life being rubbish—a tried and true method for Albarn. Seems like the train has always depressed him.
The Magic Whip is out April 28 on Warner Bros. Records.
