Lava La Rue's latest single "Don't Come Back" details a hot-and-cold relationship that they've finally had enough of. "I don't think I'm having any fun no more," the West London musician sweetly sings. But "Don't Come Back" is the antithesis to a romantic lament—it's a smooth and sexy declaration of boundaries when a relationship is doing more harm than good. "Don't come back to me baby / It's all bad / And we can't be together," they sing during the chorus. Never has a breakup sounded so velvety and appealing. “[It's] about being in a relationship where you know that person isn't good for you," La Rue says about the song. "But you can’t help but go back and forth with them. Instead of ripping off the Band-Aid, it’s tearing it off slowly and scratching at the scabs."

The single, which was produced with familiar collaborators Courage and Saya Grey, comes from La Rue's forthcoming EP Hi-Fidelity that's out July 29. In regard to the forthcoming EP, they add that it's "a record about creative transition. I want to drop one last project that acts as the bridge between the Lava that debuted, the one everyone knows, and the person I’m becoming.”
