Tegan and Sara have released the third single from their forthcoming album Crybaby that's out October 21 via Mom+Pop Music. They've already shared the Coldplay nod "Yellow" and the anxious jam "Fucking Up What Matters." The newest track is called "Faded Like a Feeling" and it comes with a video directed by Mark Myers.
Musically, the single is centered around subtle percussive glimmers, soft drums, and a propulsive acoustic guitar. The tender track expresses a growing distance in a relationship: "Been a while since we talked / You feel like a stranger / I ran out on your love / I wish you didn't blame," goes the chorus. Tegan and Sara explore the prolonged demise of a relationship with gentle nuance.
In the video for "Faded," the duo rocks back and forth on swings. The childlike setting emphasizes the innocent pain that comes along with dissolving relationships. No matter how old you are or what kind relationship folds in on itself, there's a simplicity and purity to that hurt when you reflect on it in solitude, imagining the other person beside you doing the same.
