Khai Dreams began sharing music in 2017 with the tracks "I Hold You Close to Me" and "Lost in You." In 2019, they dropped their first EP Now and Then, and "Bugs" is the first glimpse of the Oregon-based musician's forthcoming full-length project that's due out sometime this winter. On the new single, Khai combines subdued guitar plucks with an energized dance beat. It's a comforting electro-pop song that feels like getting caffeinated on a rainy day.

Along with the single, Khai is sharing a Sailor Moon-inspired video created by Yana Pan that features an unexpected twist. The protagonist is a bug that magically transforms into a superhero in order to battle a giant moth only to be transformed back into a bug. It's a strange, somewhat-relatable Cinderella spin on a beloved animation, and it's equally as captivating as the warm, expansive single.
