Olympia, Washington, trio Naomi Punk keep the energy of their punk tracks pent up and ready to explode. With their second single, “Firehose Face,” off their upcoming Television Man, Naomi Punk take it up a notch in the aggression department from the album-titled single previously released.
“Firehose Face” starts with pounding drums amplified by forceful guitars keeping pace with the same beat. It’s a momentum that remains steady throughout, while gritty vocals blend into a backyard anthem of freedom. It doesn’t stray from its mid-tempo, but it begs for a release, leaving listeners with an ending that edges on deprivation.
Naomi Punk’s sophomore album, Television Man, is out August 5 via Captured Tracks.
