Anderson .Paak and producer Knxwledge are back as NxWorries, the collaborative duo they formed in 2015 to release the neo-soul EP Link Up & Suede as well as their lone full-length Yes Lawd! the following year. Today, they've shared their first new single since then with "Where I Go," which features H.E.R. and nods to '90s R&B classics.
The slick, relaxed production contrasts with H.E.R. and .Paak's tales of a relationship on the rocks—he's doing everything in his power to make up for mistrust and infidelity, but she isn't fooled by the flashy shows of affection. "I promise that I'm trying not to be on defense / But I'm reminded of it every time you leave," H.E.R. sings in the song's final verse. It's an end note that doesn't imply a fairytale ending for this romance.
The single comes with a video directed by .Paak honoring late-'90s and early-2000s R&B visuals. In the visual he sets up colorful, luxurious brunches and buys her some incredible jewelry. By the end, she's onto his bad habits and a surprise party doesn't go quite as planned. Check it out below.
