Whitney Houston might be one of the hardest artists to cover, considering her immense vocal talent. That said, if an artist is going to offer their own rendition, it had better be one of a kind. And that's exactly the route experimental electronic artist Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith takes with her new version of "I Wanna Dance with Somebody (Who Loves Me)." Smith's take on the '80s classic sounds like it's being sung by a chorus of angels, the melody suspended in the heavens by a halo of synths.

"Whitney Houston's voice is like no other voice," Smith said of the late singer. "Her voice is a north star for so many singers. I wanted to create a cover that was filled with an energy of collective appreciation for her. Her legacy lives on in so many. I will never know what it feels like to sing like her, but having the chance to cover one of her songs taught me so much about how much of a vocal prodigy she is."

Alongside the cover, Smith also released a revamped version of her track "Unbraid" from her recent album Let's Turn It Into Sound. Listen to both tracks below.
