The days keep getting harder. Most of us are looking for anything to make them feel a bit brighter, whether that's a bit of sunshine or a great conversation with a friend. There are also those darker vices that are thrown our way when the going gets tough—a drink, a smoke, the impulse to send a regrettable tweet. Today, Toronto-based musician Cam Kahin shared his new single "Compass" as the perfect reminder to lean into supportive outlets rather than the deceiving and destructive ones. It's the debut release for his new label home, Dine Alone Records.

“'Compass' is a bright, fast-paced song about trying to get the people around you to recognize your self-destructive behavior," Kahin said of the single. Not only is it an optimistic plea for getting on the right path, it's also an electrifying and concise pop song—fans of Cloud Nothings and Joyce Manor rejoice!

"Compass" also comes with a Lebni Thodakee Avitia (a.k.a. Heirmanos)–directed video that works as a mini-documentary for what the young artist has experienced leading up to the song's release. “I’ve known Cam since he was in 11th grade (thanks to my younger brother), shot one of his first music videos, and stayed friends ever since," Avitia explained. "From the very beginning, Cam had always told me he doesn’t know what else he would be doing in life if it wasn’t music. I think you get a sense of that hunger, passion, and longing when you watch this video.”
