Last month we shared a live video of Interpol performing a brand new song from El Pintor in London. Today the New York band has simultaneously premiered the lead track from their upcoming full-length on radio stations across the world, and released the corresponding music video which you can check out below.
Codirected by Sophia Peer and the band’s frontman Paul Banks, the monochromatic video jumps between a staged live performance of the group, and footage of a fearless surfer tackling waves from a massive swell. Beyond the black and white color scheme evoking a vintage feeling, the track itself is classic Interpol. Banks’s unique voice pierces through the immense wall of sound, which the trio creates only with the rock basics with a guitar, a bass, and drums. “All The Rage Back Home” begins slow, simply with a shimmering guitar line and droning vocals, but around the one-minute mark the track opens up into the epic soundscape that we have come to expect from the band.
“All The Rage Back Home” is the lead single from Interpol’s first album in four years. El Pintor is due out on September 9 via Matador.
The group will be touring “extensively” this fall, check out the few dates that are already announced below the video.
