Obits, the Rick Froberg–fronted project (that’s not Hot Snakes, Pitchfork, or Drive Like Jehu), called it quits yesterday on Facebook—April Fool’s Day—and it turns out they weren’t kidding.

The band had to later update with a “no seriously, you guys.” Well, this is what happens when you pick April 1 to announce your breakup.

The band was founded by Froberg in 2006 in the wake of Hot Snakes’ dissolution in 2005, along with drummer Scott Gursky, bassist Greg Simpson, and guitarist Sohrab Habibion. Gurksy left in 2011, and was replaced by Alexis Fleisig. Obits put out three records, the latest of which was 2013’s Bed & Bugs. The band hasn’t announced what their future, individual plans might be, but we definitely know where Froberg is scheduled to be for the neartime future.
