Yesterday, songwriter Christine McVie passed away at the age of 79. Fleetwood Mac bandmate and close friend Stevie Nicks shared a touching handwritten tribute to the late musician, which quoted HAIM's song "Hallelujah" from 2020's Women in Music Pt. III.

The lyrics Nicks pulled were from Alana Haim's verse on the song, which referenced the sudden tragic death of her close friend Sammi Kane Kraft when she was in her early twenties. "I had a best friend / But she has come to pass," the lyrics go. "One I wish I could see now / You always remind me / That memories will last / These arms reach out / You were there to protect me like a shield / Long hair running with me through the field / Everywhere, you’ve been with me all along."

In response to Nicks' use of her verse, Haim posted: "I’m at a loss for words…I would listen to Fleetwood Mac with my best friend Sammi Kane Kraft constantly. I wrote my verse to hallelujah to try to help me heal after she had passed. Seeing Stevie and Christine together changed my life forever and made me want to play music. I’m speechless. I love you so much Stevie, rip beautiful songbird."
