We’re only a few months removed from the release of Australian indie group Boy & Bear’s pulsing single “Just to Be Kind,” and just last week the band returned with another new single in the form of an acoustic version of that slow-burn, synth-laced track. “We’ve always loved doing stripped back versions of our own songs,” vocalist Dave Hosking shared. “It allows us to reinterpret the song in a new light as well indulge a little in our folkier side.”
B&B continued to indulge in their folkier side when they opted to bring this acoustic reworking of the single to their recent “Neighborhoods” set filmed in Marrickville, a suburb in the Inner West of Sydney, Australia. Filmed in a backyard—mostly in black and white—the synths are low in the mix beneath a pair of acoustic guitars and a double bass. Check out the performance below.
