Ben Lee has been a staple of the folk-pop scene for nearly three decades at this point, boasting a prolific output of 20 studio albums over this period of time. The latest of which, I’m Fun!, arrived back in August with the assistance of peers including Zooey Deschanel, Jon Brion, and Fruit Bats’ Eric D. Johnson, as well as a younger generation of songwriters including Sade Dupuis, Shamir, and Christian Lee Hutson.
Lee recently chose the album cut “Crooked Tree”—which features Deschanel and Johnson—to perform for a “Neighborhoods” recording filmed in LA. Stripped of the accompaniment of his cohorts, this version sees Lee with just an acoustic guitar and backing electric guitar with palm trees distantly populating the backdrop. Check it out below.
